As per usual when I'm arranging video games songs I get a billion ideas going in so many different places so I do my best to patch them up into something hopefully coherent and fun to listen to, I feel like it's particularly all over the place in this case but I do enjoy this in what I personally listen to so I really like the result !
One technique I used a lot all over this arrangement is making a lot of rhythmical variations of the original melodies, by playing with rhythmic displacement, syncopation, polyrhythms or unusual time signatures, etc... and then trying to fit the resulting variations in arrangements that would complement them while still following the original accompaniment to write proggy riffs or synth patterns under that. I find that this contributed a lot to the angular feel of the track, so I decided to embrace this by adding even more abrupt tempo and key changes for dramatic effect.
I went very much by instinct and didn't think of any particular artists/acts as reference this time, but in retrospect I can tell my influences for this include Pryapisme, Rolo Tomassi, Diekyosaku, Demetori, Koenji Hyakkei, and even a bit of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
