about

When it comes to music, I'm a complete amateur, but when I saw a WTC album being hosted I thought, what the heck, let's give it a shot! This track is based on "Dancers #5" by Koji Kusanagi, who composed the MIDI-sourced tracks used in the Higurashi Question Arcs. I've always really enjoyed what the free-use music adds to Higurashi. As much as I love the work of dai and co., when it comes to Higurashi, it's always these early tracks that stick in my mind as "the sound of Higurashi". Before I decided on what I wanted to do, I copied part of the intro e.piano segment to this track as a test piece while messing around with instruments, set it to a nylon guitar and immediately thought "ohh, that's it" and decided to try a little bossa nova-type arrange! It's my first attempt at serious music so it might be a bit over-simplistic, but I hope you enjoy nonetheless. Thank you to the people I asked for advice, especially in regards to mixing. Towards the end of the track I also put in a couple of melodies from Umineko. The usage of "Monochrome Clock" there is something I'd done previously, in the SiIvaGunner rip "Dancers #5 - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" which I liked, so I decided to add that little flair to my arrange too. The usage of "happiness of marionette" is... for no particular reason! I thought it would be neat to put my own little solo at the end, and it seemed right to weave in a little reference or two, plus I just think it's kind of an inherently funny song. By the way, the electric piano sound before the loop is a preset called "Velvet 34". I ended up picking it for the number alone. With this overly long introduction out of the way, please enjoy the album! I hope I can make something better next time.
